Jazz is essentially an improvisational music. Therefore, any attempt to transcribe
it into musical notation presents problems and challenges.

The 1012 Jazz Book (Part One) is the first legitimate collection of its kind, and it does not pretend to contain the definitive “jazz” version of each tune in it. Rather, it is a collection of the best available material in its original version transcribed into a “fake page” format.
Every attempt has been made to authenticate each tune as to correct melody, lyric and chord progression, in doing so, the publisher must remain true to the original copyrighted version.

This collection, then, is intended as a source book for jazz musicians and those who wish to study jazz. It will provide the original material in fake page form,
but it will not teach someone how to play jazz. The development of that skill is left to the student, his teacher and his inspiration.
