Antonio Ongarello was born in Padova (Italy).
on September, 9th, 1949. He begun his
study of music and guitar as an autodidac t
in 1963 . He took part in the local musical scen e
as guitarist, bassist and singer in beat,
folk and rock groups. In the late 60s he shifted
his interests towards bossa nova, and later,
jazz swing and bebop.
His natural gift for teaching has lead him t o
publish many methods and textbooks for
jazz guitar and various collections of studies and
transcriptions . He collaborated with many
guitar magazines, worked as sessionman,
and he has been leader of many musical
group . At the moment, he lives in
Padova, where he works as a teache r
author, transcriber, composer; and freelance
guitar player.
